Mark Mooney has been a high school English teacher since 2000, and since 2001 he has been at Tesoro High School, one of the top high schools in Southern California. He teaches AP English Language & Composition to juniors, and sophomore English. Throughout his career, he has enjoyed helping students write their college admissions essays, and has had students go onto schools such as Harvard, Princeton, Yale, MIT, Duke, and UCLA, but many more have gone onto schools from across the country such as SDSU, University of Michigan, Northwestern, Tufts, and the University of Oregon.
A graduate of Boston University, Mr. Mooney also holds a Master's of Education degree from National University, and prior to entering teaching, served as a U.S. Marine Corps Officer in Quantico, Virginia Beach, Southern California, and South Korea. Before that, he served as a U.S. Navy Journalist in the country of Spain where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Rota Coastline.
Mark Mooney is the father of two children, and the love of reading books to his kids has also inspired him to write the Mycroft & Skylar Children's Book Series.
He is the author of Acing the Admissions Essay and Acing the AP English Language & Composition Exam.
